Erotic Evolution, April 2011
The Golden Lotus Love Pagoda (Jin Ping Mei) is a classic work of Chinese eroticism. Composed during the late Ming Dynasty (1600’s), this famous erotic novel was forbidden and banned for hundreds of years due to its graphic sexually explicit nature. It has become a highly recognised and regarded work of Chinese erotic literature, as Fanny Hill, Lady Chatterley’s Lover and The Decameron are to the Western world.
This epic erotic novel is a fictional account of harem life during the Sung dynasty (AD 1101-26). It follows the life of Hsi-Men Ching, a corrupt wealthy man living a lustful life of debauchery with his six wives and concubines. When he meets a beautiful married woman, Golden Lotus (Chin P’ing Mei) he schemes to kill her husband, then seduces and marries her. This act ultimately brings about his downfall — and that of his clan, as the women within his harem struggle for prestige and influence.
This Kindle digital book is beautifully illustrated with unique vintage erotic art and has a linked table of contents. Also included are three excellent essays on The Art of Sex – On the biological and cultural evolution of human sexuality and how we can use this knowledge to enhance our sexual relationships.
