Shane Allison

Shane Allison is a poet, writer, editor and anthologist whose poems and stories have graced the pages of literary magazines and online. He began writing poetry in high school, composing sappy love poems in notebooks about boys he developed crushes on. He published his first piece of writing, an essay called "Kept In" at the age of 16 in a Gay and Lesbian newsletter called The Galant. He went on to see his poems published in magazines such as Chiron Review, Bay Windows, RFD, Mississippi Review, New Delta Review, and over a dozen more. After 8 years of not writing fiction, he began the journey again in 2001 while spending a summer in his hometown of Tallahassee, Florida. His poems had always been erotic, so it made sense that his fiction would also take the same road. His first fiction story was published in Velvet Mafia and another in Mind Caviar. He then went on to publish a story in Best Black Gay Erotica, Ultimate Gay Erotica and Best Gay Erotica. He had always wanted to edit an anthology, and after a little discouragement, he got up the nerve to do so in 2007 with the release of Hot Cops: Gay Erotic Stories. He has gone on to publish several best-selling gay erotic anthologies including Backdraft: Fireman Erotica, Frat Boys: Gay Erotic Stories, Hard Working Men, Afternoon Pleasures: Erotica for Gay Couples, Black Fire: Gay-African American Erotica, Homo Thugs and Brief Encounters. His poetry collection, Slut Machine is out from Queer Mojo and he has gone on to pen seven chapbooks of poetry. Remembered Men from Bent Boy Books being his most recent. Shane is at work on three new collections of poetry and has three great new anthologies forthcoming from Cleis Press.
