Matryoshka Vibrator

The lovely folks over at Babeland allowed me to review the Matryoshka for you and when I got the word, I was eager to see this fun toy. This is the first toy by Rainne I’ve owned and I have to say, I’m impressed.

The Matryoshka comes packaged in a lovely dark purple box. Inside the box are the Matryoshka, it’s charging base and a cover that will go on it while charging as well as a fabric carrying bag. Also included is a power cord with multiple interchangeable plugs to allow you to use it in about any country. Add in some well-presented instructions and it’s a one of the nicest presentations I’ve seen. Well, I can’t vouch for the instructions because I like to just start exploring—surely RTFM isn’t pillow talk?

My Matryoshka is a pale pink but it also comes in a red and a dark purple, in case you’re afraid of pink.

I assembled the power cord with the appropriate adapter and plugged it in. The cord then plugs into the little base of the Matryoshka and the toy sits on top so the two contacts on the bottom touch the pins on the base. As soon as it’s set up correctly, the Matryoshka blinks to show you it’s charging.

Once charged, I could take the Matryoshka off to play. I think the initial charge took about an hour but, honestly, I wasn’t watching so don’t quote me on that.

The Matryoshka is a very intriguing shape—it’s a bit in the shape of the Russian nesting doll it’s named for but with a smaller neck and head in proportion to the base. It’s covered in velvety textured silicone except for a hard plastic base and the small contacts needed for charging so it’s considered waterproof. I would suggest, both when you wash it as well as if you choose to submerge it, that you dry off the charging contacts, just in case.

The vibrator itself was very well finished, no burs or mold lines at all, and the silicone was odorless and only had the very faintest taste of a surface chemical. So, after licking it to try to identify the flavor, I gave it a good bath in toy cleaner, just in case.

The Matryoshka is a very nice handful which is smaller than it appeared to me in the photos. It’s only about 3.5 inches tall and about two inches across. The shape of it, however, makes it easy to hold onto and manipulate, even when slick with lube.

The vibrator has 5 different speeds and 5 different vibration patterns. Two soft buttons on the Matryoshka are the controls – one for speed and one for pattern. Turning it off just requires you to press and hold either of the buttons. The motor for the Matryoshka is located in the bigger base area which gives it a nice bottom-heavy heft but also means that part of the vibrator has the most intense vibrations.

The Matryoshka is obviously designed as a clitoral vibrator with some small amount of stimulation around the vaginal opening. I do NOT recommend inserting it completely as you may have a difficult time retrieving it. I don’t know about you but I have no desire to be the source of the latest things-I-had-to-retrieve-from-a-body-cavity stories at my local ER. Nor do I want to have to explain THAT visit to my insurance company. External only!

That said, I finally got a chance to really put the Matryoshka through her paces. For such a small vibrator, the noise was quite low and the vibrations very strong. It’s still a bit more “buzz” than “thrum” but it’s really hard to get “thrum” in a small motor. I really liked that there was no vibration too light for me to use, unlike quite a few vibrators whose low speed is a bit akin to, well, an electric toothbrush whose battery is dying. I like a good amount of vibration and the Matryoshka started me off very nicely.

The head of the vibrator was just right to trace between my labia and along and over my clit. I really loved inserting the head into my vagina and pressing the base onto my clit. That made me orgasm almost too fast. The different patterns were a lot of fun to play with as well.

I really liked this toy. Really liked it – so much that I evicted an item from the headboard so it could sit in its charging stand, always at hand. The combination of a fairly quiet toy with lots of vibration and pattern and an excellent design made the Matryoshka a keeper for me. The care for detail was wonderful as well and one of my favorite things is the attention given to charging and storage. All the plug adapters are great but the base with cover is a winner at my house. It not only keeps the Matryoshka discretely covered but helps keep it clean. Seriously, have YOU ever tried to clean cat hair or dust off a silicon toy?
