Sadly, in the past, the statement, "porn is not for women" was all too true. My first encounter with porn happened in the early stages of my sexually-active phase of life, when, eager to please a partner, I agreed to watch one. I was horrified, to say the least! Looking back, I realize that that film wasn't aimed at me; rather, it focused on the specific needs of males; visual, graphic, images.

Lacking a storyline, these movies all too often depersonalized the characters, especially the females, in a way that made me uncomfortable. After all, us good little girls had had it drummed into our heads that you shouldn't sleep with someone who doesn't value you; who only sees you as an object. Here I was seeing an example of exactly that, and my partner was expecting me to enjoy watching this?

Thankfully, the adult industry has changed. While still offering those sorts of graphic images, it also offers products more geared to females. Now, instead of romance novels where the man is in control and the woman is a fluttery virgin, we have strong independent women who aren't afraid to say what they want. We have film companies, such as Candida Royale's, tailoring their product to women as well as men.

The internet, whilst being notorious for porn, is also helping to connect women to adult topics that suit them. The bottom line is, porn IS for women these days. Or at least it is for me!

I have never seen a porn film, not because I haven't wanted to - but just from lack of opportunity. In mainstream movies (including arthouse) there are some wonderful moments. Although, I am a basically hetero woman, I much prefer to see women's bodies. I wonder how many women enjoy seeing other women in a gym changing room? I have got very turned on by watching women dry themselves and parading around naked. I only wish that the showers were communal, too. I would love to see women washing their breasts. I guess that the changing room is a form of porn. I certainly get very hot looking at a woman with beautiful tits standing a few inches away from me. 

So, I suppose that is the kind of thing I would want to see on film - taken to its logical conclusion. So, instead of just looking, the women would be touching and making each other come. I would love to see 'historical' porn; women in very tight, low-cut corsets being undressed by their maids etc.

I'm a woman, and I like porn, I get off on it, but a lot of what I've seen is lacking. I like looking at women more than at men (which is not to say I don't appreciate a nice hard cock), but really fake looking ladies turn me off big time.

Most of the pornography designed for women is a little bit less hardcore than what I'd prefer, but at the same time I feel somewhat degraded by most of the mainstream porn designed for men. Most male-oriented porn that I've seen seems to either be about some girl who is clearly supposed to be really slutty acting as a jizz receptacle or about or about an apparent good girl being coerced into that same role.

I don't particularly want a storyline. I don't mind facials. I would like see a role reversal where the female is clearly using the guy or guys for her own pleasure and he's just falling all over himself to go down on her.

I run an adult paysite for women and I'm extremely pleased to find this page. The comments here back up what I've long believed - that women are capable of enjoying sexually explicit material just as much as men.

Of course, the vast majority of porn out there IS designed for male tastes, and I know that while women find porn a turn on, they also feel somewhat dissatisfied with what's being offered.

One of the biggest obstacles to making good porn for women is finding decent content. So often photos of sex rely on overused conventions and stereotypes that are quite frustrating. I have often felt that women are an untapped market in the adult film forum. Most adult films are currently written for men, with men's desires in mind. I believe that if a movie is made from a woman's perspective, about a woman's needs and desires that more women would opt to rent them. Especially married women.

If a movie portrays couples that make love as couples satisfying each other's needs that it would truly revolutionize the adult film industry. I believe we are targeting the "wrong" sex and totally missing the point. Sex appeal is not measured by dress size, age or ethnicity. It's a state of mind!, and when we truly understand this women will be so willing and ready to please us that the movie will be watching itself!
