Yes, anal penetration from a hard penis is less painful than a plastic dildo in the initial penetration. [see Mikeyd's entry below] The soft skin feels better, but the main difference is the actually hardness: a penis is never as hard or inflexable as a plastic dildo. I really really hate anal sex. It's uncomfortable at best, and often hurts.
