Aphrodisia (erotica imprint)
Audrey LaFehr, Editorial Director
alafehr@kensingtonbooks.com

We've been intrigued by the response of readers to erotica. Our Brava imprint broke new ground for romance readers, creating an entirely new read with its level of sensuality and mix of new and bestselling authors. Since its inception, it has been one of our most visible, profitable and reader responsive imprints. We're planning to mirror that success with Aphrodisia, as we respond to the readers who are clamoring for titles bringing together traditional erotica and a touch of romance, both in print and as e-books.

Both agented and unagented submissions are being accepted for works from 20,000 words (novellas) through 75,000 words and representing contemporary and historical fiction from a variety of sub-genres, such as paranormal and multi-cultural. Books will be lighthearted or dark, funny or suspenseful, whatever best reflects the writer's voice and brings readers the kind of story they are looking for.

Please send either the completed work or a synopsis and first three chapters, whichever you prefer. Or you may send a query letter describing your project to Audrey LaFehr. We do not accept email submissions.

Brava (erotic romance imprint)
Kate Duffy, Editorial Director
kduffy@kensingtonbooks.com

Kate Duffy is primarily responsible for Brava, Kensington’s erotic romance line. The three romance imprints of Kensington are Zebra, Brava and Dafina, which publishes African-American romances. She described Kensington as “opportunistic” as in always looking for areas in publishing that other people aren't doing that Kensington believes they can do well. She cited Arabesque, the first line of African-American romances, as an example. The editors are willing to look at “anything we feel will be commercial.”

In 2008 Kate is particularly looking for more varied books for Brava. The line will be doing fewer anthologies. They will continue to release three Brava titles a month. Most Brava titles are released in trade paperback. They have started releasing one mass market title each month.
