Submission Guidelines

Bella Books specializes in fiction for lesbians. We publish romance, mystery/thriller, sci-fi/fantasy, erotica, and general lesbian fiction. We are interested in novels with a solid plot and engaging, fully realized characters. The main characters must be lesbians and the story must be credible. The manuscript can be 50,000 to 80,000 words.

Guidelines for Manuscript Submission

Please send a cover letter, a precis, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:

The cover letter should very briefly describe your book, including the title and word count, and contain a biographical sketch of yourself. Make sure you include your address, all phone numbers where you can be reached, and your E-mail address if you have one. The precis should include a detailed outline of the plot and some information about all of the main characters. If we are interested in reading the manuscript, we will contact you.

If we ask to see your manuscript, please send it typed (double-spaced) with one-inch margins. Remember that you are trying to woo a publisher for your book. Make sure it is as clean (no typos, pages in correct order, etc.) as you can possibly make it. We assume that your manuscript is available on computer disc.
