The Art of Melinoe
I like strong women. And not just because they can usually do the washing and the ironing better. I like strong women because they can always carry more of their cooking to my dinner table. Which is probably the sort of attitude that would have me barred from Melinoe for life. At the end of the Melinoe Project, Raymond was safely ensconced in the care of his beloved Sunny. But, with the bitchiness of the Melinoe staff still a key factor in his life, and Raymond’s boundaries still in need of a little more stretching, it seems only right that D L King should take us back there to see what happens next. Aside from Sunny, and sexual submission, Raymond’s passions lie in photography. He is an artistic photographer of male submission beneath dominant females and this talent is fully exploited in The Art of Melinoe. Trying to please his mistress, and her superiors, Raymond shows off his artistic talents by photographing dominant women as they subordinate their male slaves. In fact, everything in Ray’s life looks as though it’s going smoothly, until he finds himself under the care of the despotic Dr Deborah Westgate and that’s when the action in this story really begins. The Art of Melinoe is well-written fem-dom at its most extreme. D L King treats male characters with the sort of loving disregard that should have submissive males whimpering with want and dominant damsels tempted to test new limits. Even though this title is a sequel it’s not necessary to have read the Melinoe Project to fully enjoy The Art of Melinoe. However, this glimpse into the lives of Ray and Sunny won’t be enough for the dedicated aficionado of stupendous strong women and their downtrodden devotees. I dare anyone to read one of these titles without needing to read the other. If there’s one lesson I’ve learnt from enjoying D L King’s writing—one lesson that leaps from every page of this book and its predecessor: you can’t beat a dominant woman. And, if you really do like dominant women, you won’t be able to beat The Art of Melinoe. Ashley Lister
