Despite its generic title, “Love Is a … Dangerous Game” is one of those extremely rare, intelligent adult features that rewards viewers for wanting something more than a gaping anus in their entertainment. Directed by Eddie Powell from a script by Jacky St. James, the story follows children’s book author Paulina Connelly’s (Natasha Nice) unexpected, and potentially dangerous, romance with mysterious horror novelist — and former madhouse resident — Wes Mueller (Richie).

Technically, the film is beautifully shot — on par with any mainstream thriller. But, what makes it especially engaging, along with St. James’ deft script, is Powell’s ability to create and juggle romance, humor, and suspense — something not easily pulled off in most adult features. It also helps that the film’s leads are charismatic and talented.

Natasha Nice, the petite and pretty, top-heavy star of many gonzo productions, proves that she’s leading lady material with a performance that is subtle and natural and funny. But, it’s Richie who gets to chew up the scenery with his silent, but manic, portrayal of Wes Mueller. A brilliant and fun surprise, “Love Is a … Dangerous Game” is what all adult features should be.

And chick flicks are something that men in relationships are occasionally are forced to watch against their will (we'd much prefer a movie with more explosions than dialogue). But "Dear Abby" is a chick flick with sex.

Even if you hate chick flicks, you have to acknowledge that the inclusion of sex makes the ordeal way more tolerable. It also helps that director Eddie Powell did an excellent job with this movie - the picture quality is excellent, the script flows smoothly, and the comedic relief is actually funny. And the sex is hot. Besides, it's unlikely you're going to make it all the way to the ending of the movie without at least one sexual escapade in between scenes - something that could lead to you becoming addicted to high-quality couples porn.
