But there's actually such a thing, and some of the couples' oriented adult DVDs are pretty damn good. The following titles almost always show up on 'the best picks' type lists. They are above the mediocrity usually found in porn flicks and often recommended as porn for couples. Titles are linked to Adult DVD Empire, our favorite movie (and sex toy) shop where you can buy, rent, VOD, download-to-own movies and Porn-on-the-Go™ scenes for your computer, TV, iPod or iPhone. In the heart of downtown Los Angeles, a corrupt cop and a drug lord rule the seedy underworld from the hottest strip club in the city, Aftershock, until an investigative journalist and a disgraced cop team up to take them down, once and for all. Drop dead gorgeous Club Jenna contract starlets Jesse Capelli, Brea Bennett, and Roxy Jezel light up the screen in this fast-paced action-thriller that will take your breath away. For every dark desire of the heart, there is a price to be paid. "The sex—and there is some good stuff here—serves the plot ...
Writer/director DCypher masterfully weaves shots and sequences to build a unified whole, mixing different lighting and color choices to keep the eye intrigued as well as the brain. Clever dialogue keeps the ear busy too. Kudos to Ralph Pafait and Dic Tracy for razor-sharp lensing.
Welcome to The Carmen Hart Show! On this week’s episode, Carmen has to go down to the backwoods of Texas to spend a day with the contest winner. She and her faithful assistant head south and soon find themselves amongst a family of misfits. " Maybe David Stanley’s latest Wicked movie should have been called “Carmen Goes To Hell” instead of Carmen Goes South, because that’s a more appropriate definition of where the actress ends up, as she encounters a family of backwoods (inbred?) hicks in this couples’ comedy that I found much, much funnier than Carmen’s last movie, Fired. Although it’s a smaller release in terms of scope and production value, Carmen Goes South is a fun movie, and one that’s definitely worth checking out." —Spooky, Adult DVD Empire
"With David Stanley writing, Paul Thomas directing, and Janine starring, there’s really no way that Pipe Dreams couldn’t be a great porno, and it lives up to the expectations. Billed as Janine’s final film, it took me a bit by surprise with its focus on bondage and the darker side of sex. But I’m not complaining because the scenes were all interesting and, more importantly, incredibly hot. "I don’t know if this will actually be Janine’s last movie, but if it is, it’s a good one to finish off a career with. There’s a lot of kinky sex in here and a decent story line (if you don’t mind being utterly confused at the end). Pick it up because it’s directed by Paul Thomas and because it has Janine doing very nasty things." —Doghouse Reilly, Adult DVD Empire
A friend once said that every woman needs three men: One for adventure and fun, one for stimulating conversation and one for good sex. Johan was all three. All About Anna is a slice-of-life romantic comedy with explicit erotic scenes, directed by award-winning director Jessica Nilsson and stars Gry Bay as Anna, with Thomas Raft, Eileen Daly and Ovidie. Called “Scandinavian erotica by women for women and couples," the film is making a huge splash in the adult industry. All About Anna made its North American debut as part of "Cinematic Sexualities Of The 21st Century," a month-long survey of global erotica sponsored by the University of Chicago’s Doc Films, and received awards for Best Scandinavian Couples Film, Best Scandinavian Actor (Thomas Raft), and Best Selling Scandinavian Star (Gry Bay) and Jessica Nilsson was nominated for Best Director at the Scandinavian Adult Awards. The movie is a successful attempt at creating a new type of erotic film, based on real life rather than on the wish-fulfilling fantasies that characterize traditional sex movies. The film’s sex scenes never come out of nowhere but are part of defining the characters and their relationships. Without the sex scenes, the film’s drama would fall apart. Striving for optimal realism, All About Anna was shot on location in Copenhagen and Paris. The romantic prologue and flashbacks were shot at sea in a Greenlandic icebreaker, a bittersweet conversation was shot in front of the Eiffel Tower, and the story’s emotional climax features such landmarks as Copenhagen’s Royal Castle, usually off-limit to film crews. The scenes in Anna’s apartment were shot in the real apartment of actress Gry Bay. Here, the film’s first major sex scene was performed repeatedly by Gry Bay and Thomas Raft in front of a huge window, witnessed by astonished neighbours while traffic and everyday life passed by on the busy city street outside. This 2-disc Collectors Edition includes two different versions of the film: the Producers’ Cut and the Director’s Cut; commentaries by actors Gry Bay, Mark Stevens, Eileen Daly, and Ovidie; unedited sex scenes; photo gallery; trailer and TV ad; screenplay; synopsis; biographies; and press materials.
Rick (Marcus London) embarks on his bachelor party night with an enthusiastic attitude, determined to enjoy his last night of freedom with his buddies (Brad Armstrong, Barrett Blade, Jay Ashley). But somewhere along the way things get out of hand. After picking up a stranded and sultry motorist, Sondra (Stormy Daniels), a wild night ensues. Strip clubs, sex parties, hookers, the time of his life. Until the next morning when Rick finds himself in the middle of a terrifying situation. Someone is blackmailing him, but the ransom is more than he can pay. Now he must decide whether telling the truth about what happened last night, is worth the price. "Brad Armstrong knows how to hit the beats on a feature. Daniels, a vertiable Kaiser Soze of complicated sex crimes, and London, the unknowing mark, shows off some nice acting chops." — Eddie Adams (AVN February 2008) Another strong, couples-friendly feature from Armstrong.
Eden is this years xxx tropical blockbuster, shot in high definition and filmed entirely on location in beautiful Hawaii. Eden features 10 couples-friendy sex scenes framed with exceptional production values and a light plot.
"This is the type of erotic thriller that you can take home to the wife or girlfriend. And she'll probably dig the story, too." —Don Casitas (AVN, Oct 2007)
Wicked contract star Jessica Drake wrote the scrip for Just Between Us, and the lead character's conflicts are bound to hit home with women. Sex scenes are long, and the one with Carmen and Brad is a standout. What makes it work is Hart's convincing performance. She movingly conveys the character's emotions, desires and regrets. —Jared Rutter (AVN August 2007)
Tony Comstock's movies specializes in documentaries that all follow the same basic pattern: a long interview with a couple, mostly about their sex life but also about the origin of their romance, followed by a long sex scene. The end result is strangely intimate having heard so much about their lives, it's quite moving to watch these people have sex. In a field where sleaze and vulgarity are pretty much part of the atmosphere, Comstock's films provide a welcome touch of class, and they're often as much about love as lust. "Director Michael Raven delivers a pornedy that combines witty banter and comical situations ...perfect for couples"—Nelson X (AVN July '07) Looking for a hilarious couples' DVD? This is The One! From Double Feature and M – Caught In The Act to Space Nuts and Valley 911, Director Jonathan Morgan has always had the knack for directing great comedies. His latest is The One, written by star Stormy Daniels and telling the story of a young couple whose relationship faces a crisis when they make the mistake of uttering those three simple words: "I Love You". The movie opens with Jennifer (Stormy) and Dave (Voodoo) returning home from a night out on the town. They desire each other so much that they can barely make it to the bedroom – ripping off each other’s clothes along the way. But at the end of their passionate lovemaking session, Stormy suddenly blurts out "I love you," and the panic for both of them begins to set in. The One may not be remembered come awards time...hell, it may not even be remembered come this time next month – but it was one of the most enjoyable couples movies I’ve watched this year, and one of the funniest adult releases in a long time. Snuggle up and watch it with your significant other...you’ll both have a great time! —Spooky (Adult DVD Empire)
After coming to the conclusion that she must get married or risk deportation, British fashion designer Vivian (Roxy Jezel), enlists her two friends (Avy Scott & Katie Morgan) to help her stay in the country. After a series of disastrous internet dating mishaps, Thomas (Randy Spears) agrees to marry Vivian for the right price. But this is a marriage made in hell. Can they find true love? Or will the pesky INS agent (Nina Hartley) uncover the truth? Award winning writer/director Stormy Daniels takes you on a sexy and hilarious adventure about just how far people will go for Love, Money or a Greencard. "Jezel is a natural-born actress and will charm you, enchant you and just make you fall head-over-heels in love with her. Add to that an effervescent musical theme reminiscent of Thomas Newman's American Beauty score, inventive and cinematic edition, and sex on an even smolder level throughout, and what you've got is erotica that glistens like a diamond ring" —Peter Warren (AVN June '07)
Curse Eternal was written and directed by Brad Armstrong, and it’s a well-shot, well-performed adult feature that should especially appeal to the couples’ crowd. Marking Kaylani Lei’s final big starring role before she left the studio as a Contract Girl in 2006, Curse Eternal casts her as the ancient Egyptian queen Neferkala, whose tomb has been undisturbed for thousands of years...that is, until a professor played by Randy Spears unearths it at the beginning of this movie. The story begins with Randy opening Kaylani’s tomb – only to have her come to life in front of his eyes. Kaylani wants to both punish Randy for disturbing her tomb and reward him for freeing her, so she proceeds to have sex with him and then sucks the life energy out of him. Any similarities between this scene and what women do to men in real life is, I’m sure, purely coincidental! Even though Randy has been killed, his partner (who ran off when he saw Kaylani) is still alive, and he dynamites the tomb – burying Kaylani once again. The movie then jumps ahead in time to the present day, where we are introduced to another professor, played by Jessica Drake, who is playing the grown daughter of Randy’s character. She gets word that the tomb where her father perished has been found, so after a "quickie" with boyfriend Eric Masterson, it’s off to Egypt for Jessica. Curse Eternal is far and away the best DVD you’ll find on the recent lists of adult titles, and a real treat for Kaylani Lei fans. It is concerned the “great” porno of 2006. —Adult DVD Empire
Have you ever dreamed of being a superstar? AfroDite hasn’t - not until she runs into CEO, the mogul’s mogul of hip hop. Catapulted into the world of made mega-stars with her best friend Isis in tow, AfroDite quickly becomes a top-selling rapper and nothing can keep her down - not wardrobe malfunctions, not lip-synching fiascos, nothing! Well, almost nothing. Finding herself a little socially challenged in the love department, her secret crush CEO only seems to see dollar signs on her forehead. Will AfroDite get her man? And will superstardom turn out to be everything she never wished for? Femme Chocolate - Erotica of a different flavor In 1984, Candida Royalle went from being an adult film star to creating the internationally acclaimed Femme line of erotic movies from a woman's point of view. She has since become a recognized "sexpert," appearing on most major TV talk shows and written up in many major publications, as well as a member of the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. Candida is now turning her attention toward grooming new female directors for both the Femme line and Femme Chocolate, her new division of "ethnically diverse erotica."
Wicked Pictures and Playgirl have become a pretty incredible tag team at creating porn that is couple friendly, while still maintaining that nasty edge. Illicit Affairs, the two companies latest joint release, has a great array of talent and some amazing production quality. The music may be a little too prominent and the productions a little too flashy for some gonzo purists, but it's hard to imagine anyone denying that all of these ladies are sexy as hell and the fuck footage top notch, two elements that all porn enthusiasts can agree on. Illicit Affairs is great, glossy porn that couple will love —Eddie Adams (AVN April 2007) I am such of fan of these Playgirl DVDs because each one contains
more than enough sex scenes. Each one also has bonus sex scenes in the
Special Features section as well. You really get your money’s worth
when you pick up a Playgirl DVD.
When Lisa Ann starts filming a feature on women in the sex industry, she gets more than she bargained for! With a secret "size-queen," super-hot guys, toy-loving clerks, and an exotic masquerade that takes a walk on the wild side, this tongue-in cheek look at the adult world and popular culture will leave you laughing – when you’re not rewinding to watch the "naughty" parts - again! Did we mention it has some of the hottest guys ever to grace an adult movie set? Breaking the typical adult movie mold, award-winning director Candida Royalle’s revolutionary approach creates an adult movie for people who don’t normally like adult movies. Candida takes a softer approach to the standard adult fare, focusing on intimacy, foreplay, and raw passion to create sexually positive scenes that affirm a woman’s sexuality. With an engaging plot and real-life couples with realistic bodies (no silicone here), Candida’s Under the Covers is ideal for women, couples, and men of discriminating taste. Real-life couples ignite the screen with passion. —Adult DVD Empire
Matt & Khym: Better Than Ever is the latest entry in Tony Comstock's popular series of documentary-style films featuring real couples, and it's a sweet, rather charming outing. Matt and Khym met when she was fresh out of high school and he was just a few years older, and they've been together ever since, for going on twenty years. About half of the film is footage of them, sitting together on a couch, talking about how they met and their lives together. It's a little like the footage of couples reminiscing about their first meetings in When Harry Met Sally the similarity is strong enough that it was a little disconcerting at first to see her going down on him or him fingering her during the brief intercut snippets of them having sex together. Their story is at once individual and easy to relate to; they seem like nice people who have had some of the usual (and some unusual) ups-and-downs in their lives, but never stopped loving each other, and never stopped lusting after each other, either, which is almost more impressive. The filmmaker is very unobtrusive, only asking a question or two, and never appearing on screen, so the focus remains squarely on the couple. A long scene of them making love follows the conversation, and it's a sweet, tender affair (and, from a purely prurient point of view, she has a hot little body, and he's kept in shape, too). They clearly know each other up, down, and sideways, and know just how to make one another happy. The film returns to them afterward, and they explain that they agreed to take part in this project because they want to show people that it's possible to have a long relationship and remain sexually and personally passionate about your partner. It's a good message, and they're living proof.
Empire Review: It’s hard to find a good storyline in porn. After all, there’s only so many ways to plant innuendos and seduction in between bone slapping sex scenes. So it becomes harder and harder to keep things fresh and interesting. Most studios have given plots the shaft altogether (pun intended). Of the remaining few who still dabble in plot lines and production value, Wicked has risen to the upper echelon, providing quality product consistently. It doesn’t hurt having the hottest names in the biz at your disposal. What emerges is some of the steamiest, well-thought out features ever produced. Dream Quest is one of the very best ever produced, and stars the world-famous Jenna Jameson as Sarah—an average girl longing for romance and adventure to whisk her away from the small town doldrums. Well, her dreams come to life as Stephanie Swift and Felicia (who play heavenly faeries) come to take Jenna away on a quest to save Fantasy from the grips of the dastardly dubious Vladimir, played by Hershel Savage.
Don’t let the title fool you, most of the sex in this movie is good, clean fun. A true couple’s flick. Bored with the same old lifestyle and daily routine, Sabrina (Michelle Lay), a powerful attorney, begins to lead a double life to spice things up. By day she is one of the top lawyers in the city and by night she is a beautiful and seductive dominatrix. Sabrina begins to find it difficult to balance the two lives, but refuses to give either life up for the other. What Sabrina soon discovers though is that, in order to live life to the fullest, sometimes you have to go to extremes. Fans of public sex won’t want to miss the hand job Randy Spears gets under the table at a fancy restaurant.
2006 AVN Winner: 25 Years Later The Devil Gets Her Due... The remake of The Devil in Miss Jones is big time news. Even the venerable New York Times gave its readers a sneak peak at the New Devil in Miss Jones in their Sunday "Arts & Leisure" article headlined "The Devil Is Still In." The film was released September 21st, in 5 languages, with a billboard in Times Square and a release party in New York City. Like I said, this is big time news, and heady stuff considering it's porn that's being hyped on Time Square. There's not a porn fan alive that doesn't recognize what is probably the most noted classic of the Golden Age of Porn: The Devil in Miss Jones. The famous title, along with a contemporary dose of sex scenes and the presence of the pornography superstar Jenna Jameson as the Devil, Vivid has a much anticipated winner on its hands. The original Devil in Miss Jones is a compelling story of Justine Jones, a spinster in her 30's, who kills herself because nothing has happened in her life. Confronted by the Devil and faced with an eternity in Hell, she imposes the hypothetical premise If I had my life to live over I would live a life consumed, engulfed, impassioned by lust! This brings about sexual behavior that transcends the norm and blooms into sizzling hot sex. The New Devil in Miss Jones story is updated, but it still pays homage to the original. The 3 disc set includes the original Devil in Miss Jones, along with outtakes and scenes not included in the movie.
Real-life lovers Xana and Dax are opposites; she is blonde, blue-eyed, and lush. He is dark and lean with long kinky locks. She's experienced and bold, he's young and shy. This couple is the real deal, they love each other, and the sex (by turns tender and raw), is so much more than just a series of hardcore hot acts and positions. They are clearly gone over each other, and hot for each other, there's a feeling of heat and passion that's rarely ever captured on film. There's no plot line to this film. Basically, it's Xana and Dax talking about their relationship and their sex life, and liberally and excellently sprinkled throughout with hot, hot, hot scenes of this visually stunning couple getting it on - every which way. Everything people say that they want in porn, this movie has: Real-looking people, real relationships, superb videography. If you want a good first porn video, you couldn't do better. What you see on screen is two people very much in love and truly enjoying themselves both spiritually and sexually. If you want a movie with explicit sex to share with someone you love, but don't want a typical porn antics, this is the movie for you.
2005 AVN Winner: Empire Review: The Masseuse is the kind of movie I’ve been
waiting for Jenna Jameson to make ever since she started Club Jenna. It
reminds one of her old days as both a Vivid and Wicked girl, when the
storyline of the movie was just as important as the sexual action. More
importantly, The Masseuse is easily the best couples-themed movie
to come from Club Jenna – one which males should have no embarrassment
about sharing with their significant other. The new version of The Masseuse reminds me of the way they used to make adult films back in the 70s and early 80s – when the acting and plot were as important as the sex that was being shot. If you’re a fan of those types of titles, or part of a couple who is turned-off by most of what passes as an “adult feature” these days, give The Masseuse a look – you’ll be glad you did!
Pirates, lust and love on the high seas are the order of the day in this tale about a vengeful captain and the beautiful stowaway he discovers on board. Every aspect of this shot-on-film feature is stunning, from the acting and set design to the music and fight scenes - and the excellent, chemistry-laden sex woven into plot. Included on this new DVD version is a 57-minute "All Access Making of Conquest" that alone may be worth upgrading your old copy with this new one. You’ll go behind the scenes of this Greg Steel/Brad Armstrong directed title as virtually every aspect of the shoot is covered. Also included are several Jenna featurettes that are sure to appeal to her fans. There’s a Jenna Interview in which she talks about her background and how she got into the business; a Photo Shoot segment that is a montage of Jenna in some very sexy poses and outfits; and a "Jenna Gets Molded" section that shows her getting her pussy and tits molded – presumably for sex toys.
Lisa's world becomes consumed by a dark, sensuous man, Daniel Parish, as he takes her to heights of sexual passion never experienced before. But as she comes closer and closer to her own erotic limits she is forced to make a very painful choice. Is it possible to surrender to intense passion without losing yourself to another? This is something she'll have to decide. Obsession is the hardest price to pay...sexually obsessed with the man voyeuristically fixated on her, Lisa becomes driven to participate in every sexual act he demands, including sex with strangers. Missy (who plays Lisa) and her real-life husband, who plays the voyeur, push the tension and chemistry over the edge. Highly recommended for couples.
AVN 2003 Winner
This film won several 2003 AVN awards, and rightly so. The plot, revolving around a lovely girl working for a cruel boss, is a smart sexy retelling of "Sleeping Beauty." The production is gorgeous; 1940s noir blended with modern-day look. The sex is hot, the performers stunning, the acting is surprisingly good, and the music is superb. Empire Review: Michael Raven has taken the classic Snow White story and given it a 1930’s film noir twist in Beautiful, a great new DVD from Wicked Pictures that fans will want to make sure to add to their adult shelves. As for the story, Raven’s choice to set the film in the 1930’s was a great move. The period costumes that the actors wear and the visuals are just stunning; and seeing the characters move around and spout out dialogue as if they were in a Raymond Chander novel was a real treat to watch. Watch this movie with someone you are in love with, or lust after. Excellent couples movie.
Chameleons, Not the Sequel is a classic film now available on DVD. The early scene with Ashlyn Gere and Rocco is reason enough to purchase this DVD. Deidre Holland and Rocco Siffredi play chameleons, shape-shifty lovers who can change personas and gender at will, and need the sexual energy of their victims to survive. Chameleons is dark and complex, sometimes angry, but always hot. Rocco Sifreddi, Ashlyn Gere and Diedre Holland play stellar rolls. There's lot of shimmering chemistry between these partners. Ashlyn took home the Best Actress award from AVN (dubbed "the Oscars of adult movies") and Ashlyn and Deidre took the Best All-Girl Scene award..Chameleons, Not the Sequel is adult movie making at its finest, and a good choice for the couples' crowd. —Adult DVD Empire For more recommendations visit Copyright © 1996 and on, Erotica Readers Association, Inc.
