The Bride's Initiation

Today's focus is on one of porn's earliest stars, Carol Connors. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona in 1952 and got her start in porn in the early 70's doing short hard core loops. At 5'7" and 128 pounds, Ms. Connors was a lithe, but big busted looker with an enormous sexual appetite. From doing loops to full feature she was a determined no holds barred performer and that attitude and her love for sex served her well in the handful of features she appeared in during her career. Her earliest appearances in features was as the busty blonde nurse in the all time classic "Deep Throat" and also another early film titled "The Brides Initiation". However, she would go to be best known for a couple of films she starred in, "The Erotic Adventures of Candy" and "Candy Goes To Hollywood". She was also one of the first females to get behind the camera in 1981 when she directed, and starred in, the highly acclaimed "Desires For Men". That would open future doors for female directors in porn.

After her adult career ended, she went on to be the hostess on the TV show "The Gong Show" with Chuck Barris for several episodes. One other note, Ms. Connors is also the mother of mainstream actress Thora Birch, who played the daughter in the 1999 film "American Beauty" with Kevin Spacey and Annette Benning. Thanks to modern technology many of Carol Connors films are now available on DVD.

Debut Film – Ms. Connors debut film is somewhat of a mystery, so here is a quick rundown of a Carol Connors film from 1976, "The Bride's Initiation", a film many not be that familiar with, but it is a decent film with some very all out sex scenes with this blonde bombshell, one of porn's early stars of the golden age.

In this tale of a Dracula like storyline, a just married couple is kidnapped by the Count. The woman is given a tongue bath and the husband is carted off by the chauffeur and given a penis-ectomy. The organ is then presented to a witch who helps the Count. Meanwhile, a detective has been hired by the bride's parents to find them. The Count has sex with the kidnapped bride and ejaculates into a cup which is then given to the witch, who mixes it up with some chemicals and gives it to the Count to drink. The count then goes out for a ride and spots Carol and immediately wants her for his own. He devises a way to seduce her into his lair. In the meantime the detective is now a captive of the Count and "milked of his juices" which is deposited in the same wine glass that the count used before. What happens after is creates a big twist in the story. Ms. Connors, along with Constance Money and Candida Royalle have some hot sex scenes that will definitely create some good wood. This is one of the true classics from the golden age of porn, and one that many have forgotten about. The film stars Hall of Famers Kay Parker, Abigail Clayton, Paul Thomas and the late John Leslie among others in a very good cast. The film is a modern day takeoff on Snow White with Abigail as the beautiful, innocent and wealthy Snowy and Kay as the evil stepmother Fedora who is out to ruin Snowy and take away her fortune and ruin her life. There is the mirror, the evil potion and all the trappings to turn Snowy into a raging whore.

Parker devises a plan to do away with Snowy by having her ravaged, first by her butler. Played by Thomas. He does as he is ordered but begins to have feelings for Snowy. The beach scene is nicely done with some lush photography and a montage. Not satisfied, Parker gets her lesbian lover/secretary to seduce Snowy, which she does. Finally Parker decides to get a group of seven men ( porn's answer to the Seven Dwarfs) to ravage Snowy and finally ruin her for good.

However Kay's plan runs amok as Snowy finds herself in all of this sudden sexuality and discovers who she really is. How it all ends has a nice twist. The sex scenes are full bore, hot, steamy and balls to the wall. There are some strange bits, especially with the seven men, but it all ties together. The story even with a voice over, is well done, the acting is above what one expects in a porn film. The locales in some stately old San Francisco homes lends to the overall theme very well. The camera work and lighting add to the overall good look to this classic.
